Lake Arinal, located about 30 minutes
from La
Fortuna, is one of the world’s
premier wind surfing locations. It is also possible to hire a jeep from
La Fortuna to Lake
Arinal, sail a boat to the other end, and then ride
a jeep to Monteverde, one of the most well
known ecotourism oriented communities in Central
America and known for
its cloud forest.
A big blue Morpho family lives up the river, and flies down every day. The Morpho is the national butterfly. It is about the size of a small hand, and bright, light blue in color. What a pleasure to commune with them each day

Be sure to bring your camera, walking shoes, field glasses and beach
towel (don't forget mosquito repellent either - it is the tropics).
There is no direct telephone line to the house but the neighbours have
a cell phone that you can use for a nominal fee. Standard cell phones
are
not likely to work in Costa Rica because of the existing telephone
monopoly. |
