The Rain Forest is an exceptionally healthy place to live. Oxygen, one
of the basic elements required for life is abundant in rain forest air
because the trees are producing it continually.
What is even more exciting is that the water tumbling over the boulders
in front of the lodge and attached bedrooms and guesthouse, creates negative
ions that purify the air.
The normal ion count in fresh country air is 2,000 to 4,000 negative
ions per cubic centimeter. At Villa del
Rio, there are more than
50,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter!

Welcome to Our Rain Forest River
Home
 |
When we are staying at Villa del Rio,
I usually arise when the sun comes up at about 6 a.m. The temperature
is usually about 69°
F, and will climb to about 80° by midday. The first thing
I do is to prepare a fruit dish consisting of papaya and bananas,
garnished with lime juice. What a wonderful way to begin the day!
My favorite
birds sing me lovely songs. They are free to come in the lodge,
because in this building we have neither doors nor windows.
These birds are a little larger than a sparrow and black
with a white tail. The tail flits back and forth as they make their
delightful music.
The Lodge allows an unobstructed, panoramic view of the river cascading
over large boulders, and the deep green rain forest and in the
river, small pools are formed amongst the boulders for welcome
and refreshing
dips after hikes.
